How do you keep showing up to work and doing your thing while the world is in turmoil?

If I told you how many times a week I had grappled with a full existential crisis brewing in the early mornings of my day over the past few years, you might look at me differently in the morning meeting we attend together because chances are, I’m there wearing hot pink lipstick and holding a coffee mug with a joke or the Golden Girls on it, and I am handling my business. You wouldn’t know — you couldn’t know that a few hours before, I might have been questioning if any of this would matter, if I should keep pushing my daughter to practice her reading and math, or if we should just curl up in a ball and opt out of everything….

I am someone who places high value on authenticity. Navigating all of the challenges and hardship the past few years has delivered has made it tough to know what the best way to show up at work is.

Needless to say, this has been an exercise in trying to find balance. How do we remain human and connected to the excruciatingly hard events happening around us and still do the work we must do? How do we lead with our heads and our hearts when we’re scared and…
