As part of my series about “Powerful Womxn Who Are Changing The World”, I had the pleasure of interviewing Yvonne Alston, the DEI Strategist / Culture Cultivator/ Unapologetically Authentic Courage Champion who is the Founder and Principal of Indelible Impressions Consulting, LLC (IIC). She is passionate about creating lasting, sustainable change through DEI work that is driven by data and courageous compassion.

Yvonne is doing the work to create a more inclusive world for us all. I am thrilled to highlight her and the amazing work she is doing through her organization!

Tell us about the work you do:

I am the Founder + Principal of Indelible Impressions Consulting, LLC (IIC), a woman- and minority-owned consulting firm committed to equipping individuals and organizations with the knowledge and tools needed to create sustainable cultures of acceptance and transformation. We aim to foster inclusive, intercultural organizations through customized education, compassionate yet courageous conversations, workshops/trainings, and curriculums to advance a higher-performing culture. IIC truly values compassionate communication, empathic engagement, social justice, and authentic allyship and action to advance diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging. That’s why we take a “heads and heart” approach to work to create sustainable change. When both align, the outcomes are actions that matter — ones that impact the culture and environments for the better.

What do you love about it?

Definitely the connection with people in the organizations I serve; those who know they need to change, those who want to change, and even those who don’t. Getting to know what makes people think, say, and do the things they do is so interesting to me. To help them overcome barriers to experiencing all there is to life — through vulnerability, openness, and greater acceptance of others — it’s really beautiful.

What makes you great at what you do?

I would say my inquisitiveness, open-mindedness, compassionate heart, and unapologetic authenticity. My academic and professional experience are strengths too, but I would say the former is what…
