Powerful Womxn Who Are Changing The World: Stephanie Alegado
An Interview with Natalie Ruiz
As part of my series about “Powerful Womxn Who Are Changing The World”, I had the pleasure of interviewing Stephanie Alegado, who used the challenges of a global pandemic to make an intentional pivot in her life and career. Stephanie has leveled-up as a Powerful Womxn by applying her skills to a non-profit that works to prevent the trafficking of children, launching a sustainable and forward-thinking fashion line and believing in her big dreams.
I am thrilled to highlight Stephanie Alegado and the amazing human she is, not to mention the work she is doing!
Stephanie was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area and moved to New York City in 2011. She began her career working design internships with Narciso Rodriguez, Milly, Tanya Taylor, and Buckler. She took full-time positions doing product development for Haute Hippie and doing print design/office management for a popular print design studio. To afford the life she dreamed of, Stephanie worked as a server at some popular downtown restaurants.
All the highs and lows of the hustle came to a screeching halt when the pandemic tore through New York. That was when Stephanie knew it was time to reconsider, reflect, and put into action what forward momentum would look like from then on.
