They’re right when they say it takes a village… To raise a child, to launch a business, grow a brand, boldly believe in magic, and make dreams realities… None of us succeed alone.

“If I have seen further, it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.” — Isaac Newton

Every week, I do live Q and A with team members at work. The questions are sometimes hilarious, often insightful, and share a lot of common themes. Without fail, I am asked how I ‘balance’ my work and personal life, manage to do everything I do and stay motivated. I’ll give the short answer now and then share how I recently achieved more with help.

Short answer: there is no balance, only prioritizing. I achieve my goals collaboratively and with the help of others. I stay motivated by striving to make a positive impact with the time and influence I wield and by remembering that our time is short.

Now, for the story. Last week, I was fortunate to join some remarkable team members in Orlando, Florida, to celebrate a significant anniversary; LEXReception turned ten years old! I vividly remember the launch of this business…
